1 2 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ (the Son of God).

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: 3 "Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.

A voice of one crying out in the desert: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.'"

John (the) Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

People of the whole Judean countryside and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins.

John was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist. 4 He fed on locusts and wild honey.

And this is what he proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.

5 I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit."

It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.

On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. 6

01 Commencement de la Bonne Nouvelle de Jésus Christ, le Fils de Dieu.
02 Il était écrit dans le livre du prophète Isaïe :
Voici que j'envoie mon messager devant toi,
pour préparer la route.
03 A travers le désert, une voix crie :
Préparez le chemin du Seigneur,
aplanissez sa route.
04 Et Jean le Baptiste parut dans le désert. Il proclamait un baptême de conversion pour le pardon des péchés.
05 Toute la Judée, tout Jérusalem, venait à lui. Tous se faisaient baptiser par lui dans les eaux du Jourdain, en reconnaissant leurs péchés.
06 Jean était vêtu de poil de chameau, avec une ceinture de cuir autour des reins, et il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.
07 Il proclamait : « Voici venir derrière moi celui qui est plus puissant que moi. Je ne suis pas digne de me courber à ses pieds pour défaire la courroie de ses sandales.
08 Moi, je vous ai baptisés dans l'eau ; lui vous baptisera dans l'Esprit Saint. »
09 Or, à cette époque, Jésus vint de Nazareth, ville de Galilée, et se fit baptiser par Jean dans le Jourdain.
10 Au moment où il sortait de l'eau, Jésus vit le ciel se déchirer et l'Esprit descendre sur lui comme une colombe.
11 Du ciel une voix se fit entendre : « C'est toi mon Fils bien-aimé ; en toi j'ai mis tout mon amour. »
12 Aussitôt l'Esprit pousse Jésus au désert.
13 Et dans le désert il resta quarante jours, tenté par Satan. Il vivait parmi les bêtes sauvages, et les anges le servaient.

2. Eis que envio o meu anjo diante de ti: ele preparará o teu caminho.
3. Uma voz clama no deserto: Traçai o caminho do Senhor, aplanai as suas veredas (Mal 3,1; Is 40,3).
4. João Batista apareceu no deserto e pregava um batismo de conversão para a remissão dos pecados.
5. E saíam para ir ter com ele toda a Judéia, toda Jerusalém, e eram batizados por ele no rio Jordão, confessando os seus pecados.
6. João andava vestido de pêlo de camelo e trazia um cinto de couro em volta dos rins, e alimentava-se de gafanhotos e mel silvestre.
7. Ele pôs-se a proclamar: "Depois de mim vem outro mais poderoso do que eu, ante o qual não sou digno de me prostrar para desatar-lhe a correia do calçado.
8. Eu vos batizei com água; ele, porém, vos batizará no Espírito Santo."
9. Ora, naqueles dias veio Jesus de Nazaré, da Galiléia, e foi batizado por João no Jordão.
10. No momento em que Jesus saía da água, João viu os céus abertos e descer o Espírito em forma de pomba sobre ele.
11. E ouviu-se dos céus uma voz: "Tu és o meu Filho muito amado; em ti ponho minha afeição."
12. E logo o Espírito o impeliu para o deserto.
13. Aí esteve quarenta dias. Foi tentado pelo demônio e esteve em companhia dos animais selvagens. E os anjos o serviam.

egli ti preparerà la strada.
3 Voce di uno che grida nel deserto:
preparate la strada del Signore,
raddrizzate i suoi sentieri,
4 si presentò Giovanni a battezzare nel deserto, predicando un battesimo di conversione per il perdono dei peccati. 5 Accorreva a lui tutta la regione della Giudea e tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme. E si facevano battezzare da lui nel fiume Giordano, confessando i loro peccati. 6 Giovanni era vestito di peli di cammello, con una cintura di pelle attorno ai fianchi, si cibava di locuste e miele selvatico 7 e predicava: «Dopo di me viene uno che è più forte di me e al quale io non son degno di chinarmi per sciogliere i legacci dei suoi sandali. 8 Io vi ho battezzati con acqua, ma egli vi battezzerà con lo Spirito Santo».
9 In quei giorni Gesù venne da Nazaret di Galilea e fu battezzato nel Giordano da Giovanni. 10 E, uscendo dall'acqua, vide aprirsi i cieli e lo Spirito discendere su di lui come una colomba. 11 E si sentì una voce dal cielo: «Tu sei il Figlio mio prediletto, in te mi sono compiaciuto».
12 Subito dopo lo Spirito lo sospinse nel deserto 13 e vi rimase quaranta giorni, tentato da satana; stava con le fiere e gli angeli lo servivano.

3 Eine Stimme ruft in der Wüste: / Bereitet dem Herrn den Weg! / Ebnet ihm die Straßen!
4 So trat Johannes der Täufer in der Wüste auf und verkündigte Umkehr und Taufe zur Vergebung der Sünden.
5 Ganz Judäa und alle Einwohner Jerusalems zogen zu ihm hinaus; sie bekannten ihre Sünden und ließen sich im Jordan von ihm taufen.
6 Johannes trug ein Gewand aus Kamelhaaren und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Hüften und er lebte von Heuschrecken und wildem Honig.
7 Er verkündete: Nach mir kommt einer, der ist stärker als ich; ich bin es nicht wert, mich zu bücken, um ihm die Schuhe aufzuschnüren.
8 Ich habe euch nur mit Wasser getauft, er aber wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.

10 Und als er aus dem Wasser stieg, sah er, dass der Himmel sich öffnete und der Geist wie eine Taube auf ihn herabkam.
11 Und eine Stimme aus dem Himmel sprach: Du bist mein geliebter Sohn, an dir habe ich Gefallen gefunden.
12 Danach trieb der Geist Jesus in die Wüste.
13 Dort blieb Jesus vierzig Tage lang und wurde vom Satan in Versuchung geführt. Er lebte bei den wilden Tieren und die Engel dienten ihm.
